Prof Dr Nikolaus M Schmidt, after whom our law firm is named, works since 1998 as official receiver in bankruptcy, liquidator and insolvency administrator. He is on the administrator and receiver list of the insolvency courts in Halle, Dessau, Leipzig, Magdeburg, Potsdam, Stendal, Gera, Erfurt, Dresden, Cottbus, Bielefeld, Hameln, Osnabrück, Detmold and Berlin, and is frequently appointed by these courts.

Due to his expertise and experience in the field of insolvency law, Prof Dr Schmidt and his team of similarly specialized and experienced lawyers and other professionals is well equipped to handle even large scale cases at the respective NMS Schmidt Insolvenzverwaltung offices.

In asserting any legal claims, he can also draw on the expertise of the lawyers of NMS Schmidt Rechtsanwälte including specialists from all relevant areas. The whole team is intensively and continuously trained and is well qualified in insolvency law.

In the many years as legal practitioner he has also acted as administrator in numerous cross-national cases. Prof Dr Schmidt has dealt with many large scale proceedings involving more than 100 employees per case, he continued and managed the companies’ business and successfully preserved them by arranging for asset deals.

Prof Dr Schmidt has, for instance, been the insolvency administrator of the stock corporation PixelNet AG. In 2010, he successfully turned around Herotron Technologies GmbH, an electron beam processing company unique in Germany. When Libehna from Raguhn (Anhalt-Bitterfeld rural district), an East German fruit juice company, went into insolvency in mid-2012, it was successfully sold to a group of investors.
